Black Sesame Bread Rolls

Ingredients
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 3 tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 3 ½ cups all purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup black sesame seeds
Directions
  1. Add the warm water, yeast, and sugar to the bowl of a stand mixer. Let the mixture sit for about 5-8 minutes until it becomes cloudy and foamy.
  2. Add the vegetable oil, kosher salt, and 2 cups of flour to the bowl.
  3. Mix the ingredients together with the dough hook on medium speed.
  4. Add the remaining flour in ¼ cup increments until the dough comes together and begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
  5. Increase the speed and knead the dough for about 5 minutes.
  6. Transfer the dough into a greased bowl and cover it with a damp paper towel.
  7. Allow it to rest in a warm area for about 1 hour until the dough doubles in size.
  8. Divide the dough into 16 balls and place them onto a greased sheet tray.
  9. Allow them to rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 400˚F.
  11. Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle the black sesame seeds on top.
  12. Bake the rolls for 18-20 minutes until they are golden brown.
