- Add the warm water, yeast, and sugar to the bowl of a stand mixer. Let the mixture sit for about 5-8 minutes until it becomes cloudy and foamy.
- Add the vegetable oil, kosher salt, and 2 cups of flour to the bowl.
- Mix the ingredients together with the dough hook on medium speed.
- Add the remaining flour in ¼ cup increments until the dough comes together and begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
- Increase the speed and knead the dough for about 5 minutes.
- Transfer the dough into a greased bowl and cover it with a damp paper towel.
- Allow it to rest in a warm area for about 1 hour until the dough doubles in size.
- Divide the dough into 16 balls and place them onto a greased sheet tray.
- Allow them to rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400˚F.
- Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle the black sesame seeds on top.
- Bake the rolls for 18-20 minutes until they are golden brown.
