  • 1 tsp.  black pepper
  • 2 tsp.  Dynasty Chinese 5 Spice
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Waffles:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp.  sugar
  • 1 Tbsp.  baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp.  vanilla extract

For the Syrup:

  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 Tbsp. Kikkoman soy sauce
  • 1 tsp.  Dynasty Chinese 5 Spice
Directions
  1. In a bowl, marinate the chicken pieces in buttermilk. Let it soak for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and Dynasty Chinese 5 Spice.
  3. Preheat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (180°C). Take each piece of marinated chicken, coat it in the flour mixture, and fry until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt for the waffle batter. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Preheat your waffle iron and cook the waffles according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  6. In a small saucepan, heat maple syrup, soy sauce, and Dynasty Chinese 5 Spice. Simmer for a few minutes until well combined.
  7. Place Taiwanese fried chicken on top of the waffles. Drizzle with the Chinese 5 Spice-infused syrup. Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds if desired. Serve your Taiwanese Chicken and Waffles hot and enjoy the delightful fusion of flavors!
