Ingredients
  • 1 pound thinly sliced beef
  • 1/4 cup Kikkoman Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. J Basket Yakitori Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. Kikkoman Mirin
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cooked Ayanishiki Short-Grain/Nishiki Medium Grain
  • Egg yolk, for topping
  • J-Basket Sesame White Seeds and chopped green onions for garnish
Directions
  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together Kikkoman Soy Sauce, J Basket Yakitori Sauce, mirin, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. This will be your yakiniku sauce.
  2. Marinate the Beef: Place the thinly sliced beef in a bowl and pour half of the yakiniku sauce over it. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
  3. Heat 1 Tbsp. Vegetable oil in a pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef slices and cook until browned and cooked to your liking. You can do this in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Once cooked, in the same pan, add the thinly sliced onions and sauté until they are soft and caramelized.
  4. Pour the remaining yakiniku sauce over the cooked beef and onions. Allow the mixture to simmer for a few minutes, letting the flavors meld together.
  5. Place a generous portion of cooked rice in serving bowls. Top the rice with the cooked yakiniku beef and onions. Top with egg yolk and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
