Yakitori-don

Ingredients

For the Yakitori Chicken:

  • 🍚 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 🍚 J Basket Yakitori Sauce

For the Yakitori-don Bowl:

  • 🍚 2 cups cooked Nishiki Rice
  • 🍚 1/4 cup J Basket Yakitori Sauce
  • 🍚 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 🍚 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 🍚 1 cup shishito peppers, whole
  • 🍚 2 green onions, chopped
  • 🍚 J-Basket Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Directions
  1. Thread chicken onto skewers, brush with Yakitori Sauce, and grill until fully cooked (10-15 mins). Set aside and remove from skewers once cooled enough to handle.
  2. In a skillet, sauté sliced onions and shishito peppers until softened and slightly caramelized.
  3. Pour the Yakitori sauce into the skillet, stir, and add the grilled chicken. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.      
  4. Place cooked rice in bowls, spoon the chicken, peppers, and sauce over the rice. Garnish with green onions and J-Basket sesame seeds.
